When cleaning the RO tank, it is crucial to follow the manufacturer’s instructions and to use the appropriate cleaning solutions and tools. This may involve draining the tank and thoroughly rinsing it with clean water, as well as sanitizing the tank with a water disinfectant to kill any bacteria or other contaminants that may be present.
However, you need to clean the storage tanks of traditional purifiers, as most of them feature removable tanks or tanks with openable lids.
So, you first need to check your RO system and proceed accordingly.
In general, the RO tank cleaning process involves the following steps:
Close Water Supply
Close the water supply to the RO system and turn off the power.
Drain the Tank
Drain the tank by opening the valve at the bottom of the tank. If there is no valve at the bottom, you can open the dispensing tap.
Open the Lid
Open the tank lid or RO cover.
Clean the Tank
Use a mild detergent or cleaning solution and scrub the inside of the tank with a clean & soft cloth or scrubber. Pay special attention to the corners.
Flush the Tank
Flush the tank with clean water to remove any remaining contaminants or sediment.
Rinse the Tank
Rinse the tank thoroughly with clean water.
Close the Tank
Close the tank lid or the RO cover.
Turn on the System
Open the water supply and turn the RO system back on.
